Big welcome to Ohene Kumi, the newest member of the Vanguard Management Solutions (VMGTS) team!
Ohene joins us as a Junior Software Developer and College Intern supporting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Service (IHS). That means real work on real applications: the systems IHS depends on to serve American Indian and Alaska Native communities. And he's diving in right alongside our developers and data professionals to design, test, and ship AI-powered features that make those systems better.
What does that look like day to day? Building and testing tools like chatbots, summarization features, and data extraction pipelines. Writing clean code in Python and JavaScript. Running experiments to see which approaches actually hold up. As well as doing the work that earns trust in AI: checking outputs for accuracy and safety, chasing down edge cases, and sharing what the team learns.
